We are a friendly English family with a fermette in the Allier region of the beautiful Auvergne. Our Gîte has been newly renovated for 2004 and is set in five acres of green pasture land. 

The Gîte is self contained, sleeping five people plus cot. The newly fitted kitchen diner area has a fridge, a hob, microwave and all utensils are provided There is a downstairs bathroom with toilet and shower. The comfortable lounge area with patio doors leads out into the garden which has seating and a barbecue. Upstairs there are two bedrooms both with wardrobes overlooking the meadow below.  One bedroom sleeps two and the other sleeps three. The Gîte was a former écurie, (stable.) and still retains original features, the beautiful old oak beams makes this a cosy place to unwind after exploring the magnificent scenery  of the region  

The Auvergne is described as a paradise of open space and its several hundred red volcanoes have created scenery of immense natural beauty. Waterfalls, lakes and rivers are in abundance and the area is a strategic point for many migratory birds, including Kestrels, Red Kites and Buzzards who fly overhead during the long hot summer. 

We are 7km from Montmarault and the A71 motorway which will take you to Vichy a world famous spa resort and holiday town. Montlucon, the capital of the Bourbonnais area, is a region of art and history. Le Puy De Dome with its extraordinary panoramic views. Lapeyrouse is 7km away and has fishing and water sports for the enthusiast or just take it easy and enjoy the sun and scenery. Visit the Troncais Forest (30km away) with probably the largest oak plantation in Europe. The forest is also home to numerous springs and pools and food lovers can also find a wide variety of different mushrooms hidden in the under growth. The forest is well stocked with game and in the evening you can hear the call of the deer. 

Whether you want to eat out at one of the many restaurants or enjoy a barbeque in the Gîte garden after a days outing, we will do all we can to make this a holiday to remember and we are sure you will want to return to explore more of this beautiful part of France, and if you can't be bothered after a hard days enjoyment, dinner, packed lunched or breakfast can be pre-booked for your convenience
