Cerise gite

Cerise is a spacious three bedroomed gite split over two floors. The terrace at the front is equipped with patio furniture and barbecue and faces south, overlooking the raised water feature at the front of La Lohuas. Cerise has a lovely open plan living area with exposed beams and a ceramic tiled floor. There is a new fitted kitchen area with fan oven and gas hob with extractor hood, microwave oven, coffee machine, toaster and kettle. The kitchen area has been designed so that food can be prepared, but without the need to be excluded from the rest of the holiday fun. There is a dining table and chairs and a comfortable lounge area with a 3 seater sofa and separate sofabed. A staircase leads up to the bedrooms and bathrooms on the first floor. Bedroom one is a light and airy south-facing bedroom with a double bed and fitted wardrobe for hanging space. This room has an ensuite bathroom with shower, wc and basin. There is ample room for a cot in this room. Bedroom two is a beamed twin bedded room with a Velux window. A large fitted mirrored wardrobe provides plenty of additional storage space. The third bedroom is a cosy, beamed room with twin beds and a Velux window. A separate bathroom with shower, toilet and hand basin is available on the first floor for bedrooms two and three.

A stair gate is provided at the top of the staircase for the safety of younger children.

All of the gites are all fully equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible, with kitchens containing coffee maker, toaster, kettle, microwave and fridge. There are facilities for a cot and highchair on request.

A welcome hamper is provided in each gite for the start of your Brittany holiday, containing wine, bottled water, tea, coffee, sugar, bread, butter and croissants. Home produced free range eggs are also available.

The British owners, Ian and Caroline Haycox, live on-site and are always available to help make the most of your stay in Brittany. They provide local knowledge to help you to find activities in Brittany suitable to your own interests. Speaking fluent French, they will help you to overcome the language barrier, thus making it easy to experience French and Breton culture first hand.

La Lohuas is a farmhouse set in over 4 acres of gardens situated 5 minutes drive from the Medieval town of Dinan, about 25 minutes drive from St Malo and the beaches on the north coast of Brittany. Facilities on-site include a fenced children's play area suitable for all children, with swings, slides, and a trampoline. Also here are lawns for football, croquet, boule and badminton. Away from the children's area, there is a larger secluded and tranquil area with many trees and a pretty stream.

All the Gites are within easy reach of many of the fabulous beaches and attractions in the area. The beautiful medieval walled town of Dinan on the River Rance, with its castle, squares, shops and restaurants is well worth a visit. There are many other historic towns to visit such as St Malo, Lamballe, Dinard and Combourg. Parks, chateaux, shops, markets, golf courses, horse riding, fishing and sailing are all available locally.

Each of the self-catering holiday cottages, or gites, are situated in a courtyard around the main house. They are all constructed with traditional Breton stone walls under a slate roof, helping to keep them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Each gite has their own south facing terrace with patio furniture and barbeque. Each gite has been extensively refurbished and modernised to a high standard. All the gites have newly fitted kitchens including electric oven, gas hob and microwave oven.

There is a communal laundry area with free use of washing machines, washing lines and pegs. This area is also used to store leaflets on tourist attractions in the area and a detailed map of the area showing where all the local attractions are.

The gites are thoroughly cleaned and prepared prior to each letting. We supply a welcome pack containing coffee, tea, sugar, milk, water, bread, croissants and, of course, wine to enable you to start relaxing here as soon as you arrive. When we prepare the gites for our guests, we pride ourselves in our presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail.

Our grounds offer peace and seclusion in the form of the grotto area, where you can sit by the stream and read a book or just listen to the wonderful wildlife around you. Away from the gites and the grotto is situated the play area and barn - allowing family games and fun and the barn giving protection against inclement weather and the midday sun (which was necessary last year with temperatures of 43 degrees celsius!). You can also sit an relax in the gardens, or orchard area.
