BEURIZOT Cottages sleeping 2-4 (plus further option of renting the
cottage adjoining which sleeps a further 2) In the sleepy village of
Beurizot situated between Pouilly en Auxois and Vitteaux.
The village of Beurizot is well situated just off the D970 between St
Thibault (5 mins) and Pouilly en Auxois (10 mins). The Burgundy Canal
passes through the village where you can walk or cycle for miles in the
lovely peaceful surroundings of the countryside. This cottage has only
recently been renovated and made into a gite and contains everything you
should need for your comfort and enjoyment.
The
cottage consists of two twin bedrooms, one which can be made into a
double (with prior notice). The bedrooms are either side of the cottage,
both above the salon up a flight of stairs.
The
kitchen is fully and well-equipped with gas cooker and oven; microwave
oven; cafeterie; eletric kettle and toaster.
The
main access at the rear of the property, through the garden. There is
off road parking. The cottage is to the left of the main picture above.
The house on the right is the second gite which can be rented at the
same time providing accommodation for six people.
Mobile telephone work at this location. There is also a telephone kiosk
a 2 mins walk from the cottage. There are electrically run wall
radiators.
The
Lake of Grosbois is a 15 minutes drive away which is great fun! There is
a small beach area and a cafe serving snacks and drinks.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES
Apart from cultural activities, the area offers a wealth of leisure
pastimes. Long hikes, bicycle rides, numerous horse riding centres or
tennis. All the water sports are available at nearby lakes and
reservoirs. Golfing facilities can be found either in Dijon or in the
beautiful grounds of the Chateau de Chailly (15 min drive) and there is
a 9-hole course at Precy sous Thil (15 mins).
SEMUR EN AUXOIS An exceptionally attractive and impressive medieval town
with ramparts, cobbled streets, shops, cafes and restaurants (20 min
drive).
ALISE ST REINE/ALESIA A famous fortified town, the scene of the last
stand of the Gaul's against Caesar. Roman site and museum, restaurants
and café (10 min drive).
FLAVIGNY SUR OZERAINA medieval village with fortified gates and a
religious and architectural heritage. Wander around the ancient narrow
streets and visit the Carolingian Crypt and existing abbey next to which
is produced the now famed aniseed balls, ending at La Grange to be fed
by the local farmers with produce from their own gardens and farms
Flavigny is more recently famed for the filming of "Chocolat", set in
the village.
ABBEY DE FONTENAY Founded by St Bernard and a perfect example of a
Cistercian Abbey, remarkably preserved (World Heritage UNESCO).
DIJON Capital of Burgundy and seat of the infamous dukes. Spend a day
wandering the many attractions including the Musee des Beaux Arts
(closed Tuesday).
PRICES
Prices are per week and include linen and towels, all other charges and
are based on two people staying. There is a supplement of £25 per person
for a further two people staying. Beds are made up.
