Experience real France,
living in a small, friendly village, off the beaten track but close to
all the tourist attractions. You are in a wine-producing village with an
enviable reputation, highlighted by its amazing wine festival in
October.
In the immediate area you can cycle along the Canal du Midi or Robine,
hire a boat, walk amidst the vines, taste the produce at wine domaines,
go horse riding, play tennis or boules.
Within 30 minutes drive you can be lazing on one of many beaches
along the Mediterranean coast, canoeing in the stunning scenery of the
National park of Haut Languedoc, visiting the Cathar castles, enjoying
the beautiful cities of Carcassonne, Montpellier, Perpignan or Narbonne,
photographing the white horses, black bulls and flamingoes of the
Camargue or savouring one of the local food festivals which abound in
the summer.
La Cachette is ideally placed to enjoy all that Languedoc has to
offer. It is a deceptively large house, tucked away in the medieval
heart of the village of Ouveillan.
The accommodation is on 3 floors apart from the street level. You
enter from a narrow alley into the "cave" where the vineyard owner would
have kept his narrow tractor. There is a washing machine, toilet and
plenty of room for bike storage. On the first floor is the terrace with
table, chairs, parasol and summer kitchen which houses the built-in
barbeque. The living room occupies the whole of this floor with settee
and easy chairs, dining table and chairs and a fully equipped kitchen
which includes everything to ensure you can easily cater. The next floor
has a large shower room with electric shower and hairdryer and the first
double bedroom, on the top floor are 2 interconnecting double rooms
which can be used as 2 bedrooms or as sitting room and bedroom. All bed
linen and towels are provided and we supply a welcome pack.
We speak fluent French, German and English.
