| La Roseraie de Vrigny is an old vigneron's
house set in an extensive enclosed, mature, shady and rose-filled garden
bordered by a stream in a peaceful location on the edge of the commune
of St. Georges-sur-Cher, with tranquil views over the adjacent
water-meadows.
The property is set in the midst of the renowned Touraine
wine-growing area, and is conveniently situated in the centre of the
Loire chateaux country, only 4 km from Chenonceaux, with its famous
gallery spanning the river Cher, 12 km from Amboise and its association
with Leonardo da Vinci, and within easy reach of the Chateau of Chaumont
and its renowned Garden Festival, and also of the historic city of Blois.
The nature reserve and wetlands of la Brenne are also only a few
kilometres distant. The house, recently completely renovated,
redecorated and furnished to a very high standard, is the French home of
the Scottish owner.
The accommodation comprises two bedrooms, la
chambre 'Soleil' double with en-suite shower room, W.C and washbasin and
la chambre 'Nelson' with double and single bed. Shower room with
washbasin and W.C is just across the corridor. There is also a 2ft.6"
bed in a curtained alcove on the landing suitable for a child. The
fully fitted dining/kitchen with dish-washer, gas hob, electric oven,
microwave and open fire is equipped to a high standard. Recently
installed French windows open directly into the secluded Peggy's Garden
on the north-east side of the house, cool in summer, with wrought-iron
benches and gothic rose arches opening into the completely enclosed main
part of the garden, bordered by a stream and overlooking the owner's
tree-lined meadow on the far side.
There is a separate laundry with automatic washing
machine and drying facilities, and covered parking in an open-fronted
