Breakfasts & Evening Meals Whether you are staying with us on a
self-catering or bed and breakfast basis, evening meals are available,
on request, each evening. The meals are provided on a "Table d'Hôte"
basis which means the meals (generally 4-course) are cooked and prepared
using fresh produce and eaten in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of
your hosts dining room and bar. It’s a great opportunity at the end of
the day to wind down and share the days adventures with other guests and
your hosts in a friendly, relaxing environment.
We do try to accommodate specific dietary requirements where
possible. Vegetarian and Vegan meals are available. If you would like to
join us for a meal on the evening of your arrival, please ask at the
time of booking your accommodation.
Please say at the time of booking whether you wish to stay on a bed
and breakfast or self-catering basis.
More about the local area.........
The village of Courcité has a mini super market, bakery, post office,
bar, butchers and a magnificent old church. 5 minutes drive away is
Super U which is a mini hypermarket where you can buy virtually anything
from garden shears and clothes to food and wine. Just opposite is a
swimming pool. The local area is a farming community of both dairy and
arable farming. In summer the fields are full of wheat, sunflowers, and
many other crops and of course, cows, sheep and chickens.
The area boasts beautiful countryside and river walks, bird watching
& wildlife tours, horse riding, bicycle rides, museums and magnificent
chateaux and several towns where you can "shop 'til you drop". During
the month of July, you can even catch the Tour de France that usually
passes through a nearby village.
There are many attractions locally including Bois du Tay (near Bais),
which boasts a magnificent woodland, walking and cycling trails plus
huge picnic areas some are even self contained.
Sillé-le-Guillaume has a beautiful lake with sandy beaches where you
can swim, hire pedalos or even hire a mountain bike. For about €4 you
can spend 45 minutes relaxing and enjoying the lake from the boat "Silius"
and with its restaurants and cafes you can easily spend a day there.
At Averton, 5 miles from us, daily bird watching trips are organised
by Northern France Wildlife Tours during the spring and autumn. Sites
include La Brière and Saumur and species could include a Swallowtail,
Whitestork, Bluethroat, Little Bustard or Black Woodpecker. If there are
spaces available whilst you are here, they cost £50, about (€ 80) per
day and that includes transport, your guide for the day, a packed lunch
and any admission fees. (If you are interested in a tour, please let us
know as soon as possible and we'll book you on a day trip for a day of
your choice, subject to availability).
The towns of Lassay-les-châteaux, Mayenne, and Alencon are just a
drive away and a bit further afield is Le Mans and Laval. Both boast
several sports facilities as well as an abundance of restaurants
including Greek, Italian, Indian and Chinese.
