A
rural farmhouse that has been sympathetically renovated to maintain much
of its original character. The grain loft bedroom conversions leave
exposed the original roof support beams.
Modern toilets, high pressure showers and fully fitted corner kitchens
have been installed to update the amenities.
Ideal for young children and situated at the end of a small settlement
of 6 houses with friendly neighbours, there is total privacy and
tranquility and provides a true rural French way of life.
Un-spoilt by tourism, there are empty roads, brilliant night skies,
abundance of wild life, excellent inexpensive village restaurants and
wonderful produce markets.
Nearby the Argenton river lazily flows through a beautiful gorge between
le Pont Grifferus and Moulin Bernard, where, with its riverside walks,
you can swim, fish, canoe, rock climb, mountain bike, picnic, or have a
drink at the bar overlooking the river.
There are 3 excellent golf courses within a 40 minute drive and apart
from river fishing, the 450 acre PESCALIS International fishing complex
is 45 minutes drive.
The
village of Massais is 3kms, with well stocked shop, a traditional bar
and an excellent restaurant open lunchtimes and evenings. The local
boulangerie delivers fresh bread, croissants, pain au chocolat etc to
the settlement twice a week, and a mobile charcuterie calls once a week.
Depending how the mood takes her (or her chickens), a local farmer's
wife will knock on the door and offer for sale large, fresh eggs.
Experience 'la France profonde'. Visit this tranquil corner of France,
renowned for its vineyards (Anjou, Coteaux de Layon), goats cheese and
old traditions. Bordering the LOIRE VALLEY and the VENDEE, enjoy driving
the quiet back roads and visiting country markets, villages and historic
chateaux. |
