Set
in the centre of unspoilt rural France, on the edge of the Massif
Central, close to the borders of the Indre, Cher, Allier and Creuse,
hidden in the secret heart of the Berry, you will find this recently
renovated detached self-catering cottage within easy driving distance of
the delightful medieval market town of La Chatre. It is perfectly
situated for exploring this idyllic part of undiscovered France.
One
mile from the village of Pouligny St Martin which has a
bar/restaurant/small shop, Les Sablons is set back from the quiet road
in three acres of land, overlooking a lake (privately owned) and
surrounded by farmland. Approached off a very quiet rural lane, the
detached gîte dates from the 1880’s and has many original features
including exposed beams and a traditional fireplace with log-burning
stove. It has off-road private parking. It has a well equipped kitchen
with all the utensils you should require, electric hob and oven,
microwave, coffee maker, toaster, fridge with freezer compartment,
washing machine, iron & ironing board.
The
front door leads out onto a large south-facing sun terrace (with an
outside light for evenings), with a barbecue and garden furniture, which
overlooks the private lawned garden and the owner's organic vegetable
garden (Vegetables are available to buy in season). Visitors are welcome
to walk over the adjoining 3 acre field.
The
cottage is on a national cycle route and is an ideal area for cycling,
walking, horse-riding (there is a trekking centre in Pouligny) or for
taking trips in the car. It is a short walk to the river Indre. The
local town of La Châtre is only a ten minute drive away and has all the
