This holiday cottage on the edge of the village of
Mantilly, has recently been refurbished and rewired and will provide a
comfortable and quiet base for your holiday. The cottage, the larger one
on the right, forms part of a small complex called 'The Courtyard', the
other cottage is occupied by a genial elderly French gentleman; chance
to try out your French!! There is a large garden, mainly grass, behind
which lies a field of approx ¾ acre. Situated approximately 15km from
Domfront, 'The Courtyard' is within easy reach of the ferry ports,
Cherbourg, (2 hours) St Malo and Caen (1½ hours) and Dinard Airport,
with flights to Stanstead, also 1½ hours. Mont St Michel is an hours
drive away and Bayeux a little further. Exploring Brittany, The Mayenne
and the Loire Valley is easily achievable from this location, also the
Normandy Landing Beaches
The village, about a five minute walk away, has a garage, bakers,
general store, butchers, hairdressers, post office, two bar/restaurants
and an impressive church. Mantilly is the 'Pear Capital' of the region
and during April when the pear trees are in bloom the countryside is
even more beautiful. The pears are collected in September and taken to
the distillery to make the drink Poiré. There are numerous other
attractions in the area, the floral village of St Fraimbault,the spa
town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, with its Casino and Lassay les Chateaux to
name a few.
The property comprises:
1st floor There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other
with two singles, both having a southerly view across open countryside.
A bathroom with bath and shower (over the bath). A dressing room and a
hall.
Ground floor The kitchen is fitted with pine units including corner
table and bench units, there is a fridge, microwave and electric cooker.
The sitting room is equipped with digital satellite television, Astra19
and Hotbird13, which supply numerous free channels in various languages.
There are various books and novels, a three piece suite and a bed settee
for two.

Duvets, pillows and bed linen are provided.
Although the electrical system has been rewired and updated to French
standards, two 13 amp sockets have been provided downstairs so you are
able to use any appliance you may bring with you without bothering about
adaptors. The oil-fired central heating boiler is situated in the
adjoining bread oven and the cottage is available all year round. |
