The gite (La Vieille Verrerie) is 8km away from the charming Roman town
of Saintes with its daily bustling market. La Vieille Verrerie is
ideally placed . Just 32km away from the Atlantic coast and some superb
beaches, Cognac is only 25 minutes drive away and the historic naval
town of La Rochelle only 45 minutes.
La Vieille Verrerie – the ‘old glass works’ – is a beautiful stone built17th century Charentais Logis set in extensive grounds. The property has a lot of character and is extremely spacious yet very homely. There are large windows along both sides of the house, which give the interior a very light, airy feel. The ground floor comprises a large sitting room with sofas, coffee tables, large flat screen tv with satellite, video, books and games. The spacious dining room has dining table and chairs and stereo hi fi. This room has original marble flooring and features a stone Louis XIV fireplace. There is a well-equipped kitchen with oven, fridge freezer, and dishwasher. There is a small wc on this floor also. The first floor has 3 double bedrooms, of which one has an en suite bathroom. There is an additional bathroom on the first floor with bath/shower, sink and wc. Outside to the front is a large interior courtyard whilst French windows to the rear open onto a raised terrace with table, chairs and bbq, ideal for al fresco wining and dining. The terrace in turn leads to a large grassed area and shared swimming pool |
